This policy explains how The Lid Test (“we,” “us”) handles information when you visit thelidtest.com. We are a publisher of motorcycle helmet and gear reviews, not a data broker; we collect as little as possible.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are (country/region level). This helps us decide what to write next. Google Analytics may set cookies and process data such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed. It is configured for site-analytics purposes and we do not use it to identify you personally. Google’s handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy.

The contact form

If you use our contact formor email us, we receive the information you choose to send—typically your name, email address and message. We use it solely to read and reply to your message. We don’t add you to a marketing list, and we don’t sell or share it. The form includes basic anti-spam measures (a hidden honeypot field, a timing check, and a per-IP rate limit) that process technical submission data only.

Affiliate links and cookies

Many product links on this site are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click one, the retailer—most often Amazon—may set its own cookies to attribute a resulting purchase to us. That process is controlled by the retailer under its own privacy policy, not by us; we don’t receive your payment details or see what you personally bought. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

What we don’t do

We don’t run user accounts, we don’t collect payment information (you never buy anything from us directly), and we don’t sell your data to anyone. There is no advertising network profiling you on our behalf beyond the analytics and affiliate mechanisms described above.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can use browser extensions or settings to opt out of analytics tracking. Doing so won’t affect your ability to read the site. If you’ve emailed us and want your message and details deleted from our inbox, ask and we’ll do it.

Children

This site is intended for adults shopping for motorcycle gear and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
